On the recent trip to meet the Saints, the girls met 'hunk of the month' Sean Lamont, the rest of the team and also perfected their drinking skills...

The Mid
Warwickshire Girls Rugby team – the Comets – attended
the Lusty Glaze Beach Tag Rugby festival over August
bank holiday weekend in Cornwall. 12 girls represented
the team with great flair and commitment, and were
supported by a large travelling band of supporters,
parents and friends.
They played
five competitive matches at the tournament, against both
male and mixed teams, winning three games. They were
narrowly beaten 7 – 6 by St Ives in the quarter finals
of the cup stage.
The
tournament, organised by the Lusty Glaze Beach adventure
company and the English Rugby Football Union, is held
every year and features two days of non-stop barefoot
tag rugby. The Comets team was interviewed and filmed by
Sky Sports, who will broadcast the interview and the
matches at a future date.
Tag Rugby
coach Mike Vallance said;
“This is
the first time the Comets have attended this tournament
and the team made a big impact, reaching the quarter
finals and playing against bigger male only and
mixed-gender tag rugby teams. The tournament, with its
live music, non-stop rugby, beach barbecues and
spectacular firework finale, also made a huge impact on
the girls, and we have already registered two teams to
play again in 2007!”
